A charity event featuring TV star Les Dennis held at Hotel Wrexham has raised £834 for Nightingale House Hospice.
Over 100 people attended the fundraiser, which was organised by the Wrexham Academy of Screen Acting in association with Hotel Wrexham and took an in-depth look at the career of one of the UK small screen’s most famous stars.
Fans packed the venue, which is situated on Wrexham Road, and is undergoing a programme of extensive refurbishment, and heard an exclusive Q&A with Les which documented the highs and lows of his career spanning 50 years.
“We were extremely proud to partner with the prestigious Wrexham Academy of Screen Acting for what was an incredible event that has raised much needed funds for a critical local service. It was a fantastic evening, thoroughly entertaining from the outset and packed with laughs – just like Les’s career,” said Steven Hesketh, co-owner of Hotel Wrexham.
He continued:
“We’ve committed to helping local charities and good causes wherever we can. We feel that this is not just part of our ethos as a company but our responsibility to the local community. This event is one of many that is raising funds for projects and charities that do vital work for Wrexham and the surrounding areas.”
The event will see much needed funds go to Nightingale House Hospice to help provide specialist palliative care services for those with life-limiting illnesses.
Sarah Povey, Corporate & Donor Relationships Manager at Nightingale House added:
“On behalf of everyone at Nightingale House Hospice, I would like to express our sincere thanks to the Wrexham Academy of Screen Acting and Hotel Wrexham for organising such an unforgettable evening.
“We were absolutely thrilled to be chosen as the beneficiary for this event. The night was an absolute laugh from start to finish – Les made it an incredibly entertaining experience. It was truly a pleasure to be part of such a fun and memorable event. The funds raised will have a significant impact on the care we provide to our patients and their families, and we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of everyone involved. Thank you for your continued support.”
