A number of private sector experts have been appointed to advise a regional body that's aimed at improving South West Wales for residents and businesses.
Representing sectors including transport, manufacturing, energy and urban regeneration, the specialists will be on hand to advise the South West Wales Corporate Joint Committee (SWWCJC).
Set up in January 2022, the SWWCJC is made up of the Leaders of Carmarthenshire County Council, Neath Port Talbot Council, Pembrokeshire County Council and Swansea Council, as well as senior representatives of the Bannau Brycheiniog and Pembrokeshire National Park Authorities.
The SWWCJC will introduce improvements to areas including economic development, energy, transport and land use planning across South West Wales.
Cllr Rob Stewart, Chairman of the South West Wales Corporate Joint Committee (SWWCJC), said:
“We want to transform South West Wales into one of the most vibrant, green and well-connected regions in the UK.
“This is important if we're to attract more investment, create more well-paid jobs for local people and give our businesses to best possible chance to succeed.
“We recognise though that guidance from private sector experts will be crucially important if we're to realise our objectives, so it's hugely encouraging that we now have so many high-quality professionals on board who'll be voluntarily giving their time and expertise for the benefit of the region.”
