Among this year’s winners is Route Media, which was honoured with the Digital Business of the Year Award. We spoke with the company’s representative to learn more.
How does your business contribute to Cardiff's community, and what impact do you hope to have on the local economy or society?
At Route Media, we're proud to be a part of Cardiff's vibrant business ecosystem. We focus on transforming the Out-Of-Home (OOH) advertising sector by integrating digital technology into traditional advertising formats. This allows local businesses to engage with their audiences in more creative, targeted, and measurable ways.
Our work in Cardiff not only helps brands connect with customers more effectively but also supports the local economy by offering a range of advertising opportunities that are accessible to businesses of all sizes. By utilising Digital OOH (DOOH) platforms across key locations in Cardiff, we help local businesses amplify their presence in the city and drive growth in an increasingly competitive market.
Beyond business growth, we are committed to making a positive social impact. Through our OOH campaigns, we've partnered with local charities and public services to raise awareness and promote initiatives that benefit Cardiff residents.
We hope to continue driving innovation in the OOH advertising field and further strengthen Cardiff's position as a leader in digital media.
Are there any emerging trends or innovations in your field that you believe will transform business in Cardiff?
Absolutely- One of the most exciting developments is the continued integration of digital technology into OOH advertising.
Digital screens are becoming increasingly dynamic, allowing for real-time updates, targeted messaging, and greater interactivity. In Cardiff, this opens up new possibilities for local businesses to reach their audience with highly relevant and timely content, whether it's based on weather, traffic patterns, or even social media trends.
What keeps you motivated during tough times? Are there any lessons you'd share about resilience and adaptability?
You have to be resilient if you want to experience the good times. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it, right? There's a lot of pressure that comes with building something meaningful, and it can feel overwhelming at times. I remind myself that those moments are part of the journey. Someone once told me, “The pressure is a privilege.” And I think that's such an important perspective to have. It means that the challenges you face are a sign that you're in the right place, pushing for something worthwhile.
What advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs or professionals in Cardiff who are inspired by your journey?
Focus on providing a solution, not just a product. A lot of people get excited about their product and try to push it onto the market, but the real success is listening to your clients and understanding the problems they're facing. If you can solve those, you're on the right track.
