The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has been named University of the Year for Teaching Quality 2026 by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide.
The accolade recognises UWTSD as the UK’s leading institution for teaching quality, reflecting the university’s commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience, innovative teaching methods, and strong graduate outcomes, the university said.
The award is based on national indicators of student satisfaction, teaching excellence, and academic support, as well as the university’s success in fostering an inclusive learning environment that empowers students from all backgrounds to achieve their potential.
Professor Elwen Evans KC, Vice-Chancellor of UWTSD, said:
“We are delighted to be named University of the Year for Teaching Quality. This recognition reflects the dedication, innovation and passion of our staff, who are committed to ensuring that every student at UWTSD is supported to succeed.
“Our focus has always been on providing excellent teaching and a transformative educational experience, and this award is a testament to the strength of that mission.”
The Good University Guide highlights UWTSD’s personalised approach to learning, close-knit community, and strong partnerships with industry and employers, which provide students with valuable skills and opportunities for their future careers.
This national recognition also builds on a series of recent achievements for UWTSD, including ranking first in Wales and second in the UK in The Times and Sunday Times’ analysis of the National Student Survey (NSS).
Professor Evans added:
“This award is not just for our university. It is for our students, graduates and communities across Wales and beyond. It is a proud moment for the whole UWTSD family.”
