Cardiff Companies Join Forces to Benefit Learners

A multi-award-winning Cardiff college has marked the move to new premises with a pledge set to benefit students and the city alike.

MPCT runs 28 Military Preparation Colleges (MPCs) across England and Wales, giving young learners, aged 16-19, the skills and qualifications they need to boost their life and career prospects.

And it has celebrated its move to the new location, at One Canal Parade, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with both Cardiff and Vale College and training provider, ACT Training.

Richard Spear, Managing Director, ACT Training, Huw Lewis MBE, CEO, MPCT and Mike James, CEO, Cardiff & Vale College

The declaration officially recognises an agreed commitment to provide students with a richer learning experience and enhanced enrichment and progression opportunities.

All MPCT’s instructors are ex-British Armed Forces personnel, who use their military backgrounds to run a range of free academic, functional and health and fitness courses along with training in physical fitness, public speaking and communication.

Mike James, CEO at Cardiff and Vale College, said:

“In terms of the partnership between ourselves and the Military Preparation College, the possibilities are endless.

“For us this is about building relationships that are going to last over decades. We've got a few partners but the Military Preparation College is there at the top. They are an outstanding group of individuals and I fully support them and fully endorse them.”

His views were echoed by Richard Spear, Managing Director at ACT Training, who said:

“The MoU underpins our partnership. We’ve worked with MPCT for almost 20 years, and signing this document really seals our positive futures together.”

And MPCT founder Huw Lewis MBE said:

“We now look forward to continuing to help young people across Wales through positive working collaboration.”
