Wrexham University Announced as Headline Sponsor of National Eisteddfod’s Maes B

Wrexham University is proud to announce itself as the headline sponsor for the Maes B – the Welsh medium music festival aimed at young people, which takes place alongside the National Eisteddfod.

Headliners for the four-day festival, which is taking place from Tuesday, August 5, and running through to its final night on Saturday, August 9 this year include Bwncath, Gwilym, Fleur De Lys and Adwaith.

A total of 2,000-2,500 festival goers are expected to attend Maes B which is dubbed by the organisers as the National Eisteddfod’s “official after-dark little brother”.

Professor Joe Yates, Vice-Chancellor of Wrexham University, said:

“We are delighted to be the headline sponsor for the Maes B as we continue to strengthen our partnership with the organisers of the National Eisteddfod.

“We are incredibly excited that Wrexham is playing host to this year’s National Eisteddfod – it is one of the biggest cultural festivals in the world, so it is wonderful that it will be right on our doorstep.

“As a university, we are enormously proud of our Welsh culture and heritage, as well as the work we’re doing around our Welsh Language offer and contributing to the Welsh Government’s target of one million Welsh speakers by 2050.

“This year we are incredibly proud to be lending our support to the Maes B through our sponsorship – it certainly makes sense for us to sponsor such an event, which gives thousands of young people in Wales the chance to enjoy the very best of contemporary Welsh music and artists.”

Tomos Lynch, Festival Booker and Co-ordinator for the Maes B, added:

“We are extremely excited that the after-dark little brother of the Eisteddfod is returning to Wrexham this year, and we are delighted to partner with Wrexham University as sponsors.

“The Maes B team is busy working on a lineup of artists, DJs, and a variety of new and exciting experiences to ensure that Maes B Wrexham is the best yet.”

Early bird tickets for the Maes B sold out within 30 minutes back in December, quickly followed by the first wave of tickets. The second wave of tickets, priced at £140, are now on sale.

These tickets, which can be purchased via this link, include access to camping at Maes B’s campsite as well as all Maes B gigs and DJ sets.

Tickets for gigs/DJ sets only, as well as individual day tickets, will be released closer to the festival.
