The Alacrity Foundation welcomed attendees including key supporters, stakeholders, and mentors to celebrate the graduation of their 2020/21 cohort, last month in the heart of Newport.

This significant event marked the end of the 2020/21 entrepreneurship programme with members of the cohort graduating from the programme and more importantly they have created five digital start-up companies. This highlights the programme’s success and the calibre of graduates recruited.

The Alacrity Foundation’s mission is to combine graduate entrepreneurs with world-class mentors to create the next generation of digital companies in Wales via the Foundation’s unique 15-month programme that provides graduates with practical business training, software skills and world-class mentoring.

Commenting on the event Dr Wil Williams, CEO of Alacrity said:

“Our 2020/21 cohort have truly exceeded all expectations. We’re proud to say that this cohort has been formed of some of the most talented, energetic, and resilient founders that we have encountered. We’re proud to have played a central role in helping generate five outstanding software-based companies which we’re certain will continue to thrive beyond our programme and contribute significantly to the economy of Wales.

Although these companies will be based in Newport, they will be operating globally. They will generate value and jobs in an economy that must be engaged with the all-pervasive digital revolution.

I’d like to congratulate each of the teams graduating from the foundation – this is a milestone to be celebrated. I encourage you to continue to innovate, commercialise, sell your product, grow, and generate significant value for yourselves and Wales.”

As the Alacrity Foundation celebrates the graduation of one cohort, in October they welcomed another team of talented individuals into their vibrant hub located in Newport and Alacrity are recruiting for a new intake to start in March 2022. The future of the Welsh digital sector and Alacrity programme, supported by the Welsh Government and private philanthropy, looks promising.
