Business in the Community’s (BITC) Place Programme brings together business, civic leadership and the third sector to in a bid to create a long-term, transformative impact on communities.
The concept is centred on the powerful potential of a network working together with communities to tackle key issues and create opportunities.
Another BITC initiative, The King’s Seeing is Believing programme, provides a platform for business leaders to meet people in those communities and see the contribution that business can make. The aim is to close the gap between the boardroom and the community and encourage leaders to think strategically about how their own business can contribute.
To date, more than 25,000 business leaders have taken part in visits across the UK.
Newport is home to BITC’s first Place Programme in Wales, and has so far hosted two Seeing is Believing visits.
Business News Wales spoke to some of those involved in the most recent visit to Pill, Newport.
