Pride of Merthyr 2019 Finalists are Chosen

The Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil joined St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s manager on Tuesday 10th September to narrow the entries received in the ever-popular Pride of Merthyr photography competition to a final 10.

The competition invited people to send in photos of their favourite place in the town to showcase the beauty and history of the area. A total of 100 entries were received and it’s now down to the local community to decide which of the finalists chosen by the Mayor, Councillor Howard Barrett, and Lee Simmonds deserves to be the winner.

Those wishing to cast a vote to decide the winning photo simply need to visit St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/sttydfilshoppingcentre, and ‘like’ their favourite photo in the Pride of Merthyr 2019 album.  The image with the most ‘likes’ will be selected as the winner and the photographer will be rewarded with a prize.  Voting takes place between 9am on Monday 23rd September and 9am on Monday 7th October.

Lee Simmonds, Centre Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented:

“This is the fourth year we have run the Pride of Merthyr competition and we’re always amazed at the quality of the photos we receive, which all show what a stunning part of the country Merthyr is. Thank you to the Mayor for helping me choose the 10 finalists; the quality of photos submitted ensured it was a very difficult decision. We wish all our finalists the very best of luck.”

The final 10 pictures will be displayed in St Tydfil Shopping Centre during the voting period.
