Nominations Open for the Monmouthshire Volunteer Achievement Awards 2019

Nominations for the Monmouthshire Volunteer Achievement Awards 2019 are now open. The awards celebrate the inspirational volunteers who work hard and give up their time to help their community.

Monmouthshire County Council is delighted to work in partnership with Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations, GAVO to recognise the outstanding people that live in the county and provide an opportunity to say huge ‘Thank You’ for their contribution to Monmouthshire.

Monmouthshire residents are welcome to nominate individuals who they feel provide invaluable contribution to the County. The awards are a perfect opportunity to recognise the commitment of individuals and groups that hundreds of individuals, community groups and showcase the impact they make on life in Monmouthshire.

A number of local businesses and organisations sponsor the awards and enable GAVO and the council host the 2019 Volunteer Achievement Awards.

  • Young Volunteer – Sponsored by Gwent Office of Police & Crime Commissioner
  • Environmental Volunteer – Kindly sponsored by Chepstow Round Table
  • Trustee Volunteer – Kindly sponsored by Caldicot Town Council
  • Personal Journey – Kindly sponsored by Bethany Homes
  • MCC Chairman’s Award – Kindly sponsored by MCC

All nominations will be assessed by an independent judging panel, winners and those awarded Highly Commended Volunteers will be invited to the event.

Cllr Sara Jones, Cabinet Member said:

‘We are extremely grateful to the thousands of volunteers that share their time to support others in our county, the difference they make to people’s lives on a daily basis is incredible.  Taking the time to say thank you to our volunteers is so important to us, our volunteers enable communities to exist and many don’t even acknowledge the difference they have made. So if you know someone who makes a difference, please – nominate them today!’

“It’s great that we are able to bring everyone together at the Awards evening to honour the County’s unsung heroes and it’s fantastic to see Local Authority and GAVO, along with a range of partners including many Third Sector groups & charities and the local business community, all working together to celebrate the impact of volunteering within Monmouthshire. The evening always brings us many inspirational volunteering stories and if you know someone who really deserves an award, continuing with this year’s Volunteers’ Week slogan – ‘It’s Time to Celebrate’, we encourage you to nominate them now.”
