Swansea-based Facility Services Group (FSG) is funding 63 Critical Bleed Control Kits which will be placed strategically across Swansea city centre.
The donation, equating to £6,000, will equip the city with essential life-saving kits aimed at providing immediate assistance to victims of catastrophic bleeding caused by accidents such as road traffic collisions, workplace incidents, impalements, dog bites, and knife crime.
The Critical Bleed Control Kits will be housed within the existing cabinets used for Swansea's defibrillator network, ensuring they are accessible in key locations. These kits are designed to offer immediate assistance before emergency services arrive, potentially making the difference between life and death in severe cases of blood loss.
Luke Davies, Head of FM Services at FSG, said:
“We’re pleased to be able to support this vital initiative, and we believe that the bleed control kits that we are donating will be a critical resource available for use in emergency situations. Accidents and incidents can happen anywhere, at any time, and with these kits in place in various locations across the city, we're ensuring that the people of Swansea have the best chance of survival in a life-threatening situation. We're proud to be making this investment into the safety of our local community.”
The High Sheriff of West Glamorgan, Melanie James, who spearheaded the launch and rollout of this life-saving service, said:
“As High Sheriff of West Glamorgan I wanted to make a significant difference within our community and rolling out CBC kits will save lives if someone is suffering from a catastrophic bleed. They will fill the care gap until the Emergency Services arrive. We hope that no one ever needs them but if they do, they are there. I am incredibly grateful to FSG for their generous donation and commitment to making our city a safer place. My initiative is also being rolled out in partnership with Heartbeat Trust UK who are the principal defibrillator provider in Swansea. The synergy can take advantage of the monitoring and registration systems already in place, with the boxes being rebranded as multi trauma boxes”
The Quadrant Shopping Centre, a prominent location within Swansea city centre, is one of the key sites where these bleed kits will be made available.
Adam Gibbons, Operations Manager at Centurion – owners of the Quadrant – said:
“As a central hub for the city, it's crucial that we have access to emergency resources like these bleed control kits. We welcome this initiative and thank our maintenance supplier, FSG, for making it possible. Ensuring the safety of our visitors and the wider community is always a priority, and having these kits on hand will make a real difference in the event of a critical emergency.”
