Technical Director Takes on Quadruple Challenge for Charities

A technical director from an IT and communications firm based in Swansea has signed up to four sporting challenges to raise money for Alabaré Christian Care and Support and Wales Air Ambulance.

Alex Kamil, technical director at SA1 Solutions, will be taking on the Swansea triathlon on 2 June, the Swansea half marathon on 23 June, the Gower triathlon on 31 August and finally, the Mumbles middle distance half iron man on 28 September, to raise as much money as possible for these important charitable organisations.

Described as a “flying A & E”, Wales Air Ambulance provides lifesaving emergency care across Wales. The service carried out 2,828 missions in 2018 and has completed over 30,000 missions since its launch in 2001. Thanks to the generosity of the Welsh public, it has grown from humble beginnings into the UK’s largest air ambulance operation that can be anywhere in Wales within twenty minutes. At a cost of £6.5m per year, it now runs four aircraft with bases in Welshpool, Caernarfon, Llanelli and Cardiff. It is the only air ambulance charity based in and dedicated to Wales.

Alabaré is a charity that supports homeless adults, young people, veterans and those with learning disabilities. It offers homeless and vulnerable veterans support with financial well-being, education, accommodation, community involvement, and training and employment. It also helps with supporting physical and mental health, overall well-being, and helping service users gain greater independence. In South Wales, the charity provides Homes for Veterans in Carmarthen, Swansea, Cardiff, Pontypridd and Merthyr Tydfil.

Alex also completed a skydive in aid of Alabaré during November last year as part of a group of 100 skydivers to mark 100 years since the end of World War One.

Both Alabaré and Wales Air Ambulance are admired customers of SA1 Solutions, with the company proud to have Alex showcasing its support for the charities through this immense challenge.

“I’m looking forward to taking part in each event, but it’s going to be hard work. I’m doing a lot of training to prepare and make sure I’m able to complete all of them. I hope to see the fundraising grow as each challenge is done to help Alabaré and Wales Air Ambulance. The work the charities do is so important and myself and SA1 Solutions want to do all we can to support them.”
