Property Developer Highlights Help to Buy Wales Scheme

A low deposit route to homeownership is available on selected new homes in Rhosrobin where prices are already below the average price of a detached property in Wrexham.

Castle Green Homes has a small number of properties at its Llys y Coed development within the ÂŁ300,000 price cap for Help to Buy Wales.

The Government backed scheme is designed to make owning a home easier to afford.

A report from the Home Builders Federation released this month reported that more than 14,000 households had been supported to buy a house using Help to Buy Wales scheme.

Castle Green Homes sales director Sian Pitt said:

“Thousands of people across Wales have used Help to Buy over the last decade – the majority of them were first time buyers. Some of our homeowners at Llys y Coed have taken out an equity loan using the scheme, but we’re finding that many people don’t realise that Help to Buy is still available and that it isn’t just for first time buyers. It’s also a great way for people to return to homeownership after a change of circumstances or perhaps to make that next step on the housing ladder, providing they’ve sold their previous property subject to contract.”

Help to Buy Wales offers the chance to secure a new home with a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage, with the remaining 20% covered by an equity loan, which is interest free for five years. Applications for the scheme are available until March 31, 2025. The final date for legal completion under the scheme is December 19, 2025.
