National Grid Electricity Distribution is set to build a new substation on Cambrian Way, Marshfield, as part of investment to strengthen the local electricity network.
The project will take around three months to complete, with work delivered in stages to minimise disruption and ensure residents can continue to access the estate throughout.
Dan Sherlock, project lead at National Grid Electricity Distribution, said:
“We're investing in Marshfield's electricity network to make sure it continues to support local homes and businesses as demand increases.
“Building a new substation will strengthen the network and help provide a reliable supply for the community, both now and as the area continues to grow.
“We know this work will have some impact, particularly within the estate, and we're working hard to keep disruption to a minimum. By delivering it in stages, we can maintain access for residents and keep people informed throughout.”
The scheme will include the construction of a new substation and the installation of underground cabling to connect it to the existing network. This will increase capacity and help maintain a reliable electricity supply for homes and businesses in the area.
The investment will support the way people are increasingly using electricity in their every day lives, including the uptake of electric vehicles and other low carbon technologies.
While some temporary traffic management may be needed to carry out the work safely, access for vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.
This work forms part of wider investment by National Grid Electricity Distribution across South Wales to strengthen the local electricity network.
