Beacon Foods Strengthens UK Distribution Network with Fleet Investment

Growing demand for its range of quality products has resulted in Beacon Foods, one the UK’s leading suppliers of ingredients and ready-to-eat products, adding two new 26 ton refrigerated lorries to its fleet.

The award-winning Brecon company’s fleet provides a daily delivery service to customers across the mainland UK.

Tech Trucks UK at Eardisley, near Hereford supplied the two MAN TGX 26.520 tractor units and The Reefer Trailer Centre, Stoke on Trent supplied two new Chereau 13.6 metre, dual compartment trailers with Carrier refrigeration.

The tractor units have a sleeper cab, microwave, heated seats, air conditioning and a fridge for the driver’s comfort. The Chereux trailers carry 26 pallets and are able to transport both chilled and frozen products at the same time, offering flexibility to customers.

Tracking, temperature and door monitors and driver aid cameras were supplied by Red Line Technology, Hereford.

Beacon Foods chairman Edward Gough said:

“This latest investment will help support our growing transport operation and continue to provide a reliable and efficient delivery service to our customers across mainland UK, ensuring our freshly prepared ingredients arrive in the best possible condition.”

Simon Morgan, Beacon Foods’ supply chain manager, added:

“We now make 95% of the daily deliveries with our own fleet of vehicles and travel to most parts of Wales, England the Scotland, which is all part of the personal customer service provided by the company.

“We are expanding our fleet to keep up with demand for Beacon Foods products from our ever-growing customer base products. The new lorries add extra capacity, reliability and flexibility.”

Beacon Foods’ temperature-controlled fleet ranges from a 3.5 ton LGV van up to 44 ton articulated lorry.

Reefer Trailer Centre said:

“By taking advantage of our new Chereau stock programme, Beacon Foods were able to secure a premium specification trailer with a significantly reduced lead time, helping them get the equipment they need on the road, when they need it.

“We are proud to support growing fleets with immediate access to the industry’s leading refrigerated trailers, backed by the service and support our customers have come to expect.”

Established in 1993, Beacon Foods is the UK’s leading specialist producer of garlic, ginger and chili puree, roasted and chargrilled vegetables and fruit ranges, relishes, chutneys, sauces, soups, confit and fruit compotes.

The ingredients go into thousands of products, including sandwiches, ready meals, pizzas, soups, drinks and desserts, which can be found on supermarket shelves, airlines, restaurant chains and coffee shops.
