Three Great Ways to Support Newport City Centre Businesses this Christmas

,

Visitors to Newport city centre this Christmas have three great ways to support local businesses – and there are prizes up for grabs for doing so.

Join the Quizmas Lyric Trail

Newport Now Business Improvement District (BID), in partnership with the LoyalFree app, has set up the Quizmas Lyric Trail which is running until January 1 at 13 city centre locations.

The free interactive activity invites participants to stop at locations where they will be met with lyrics to famous festive songs, but with some of the words missing.

Play along with friends and family to try and guess the missing lyrics.

All you have to do is download the free LoyalFree app, visit each of the locations on the trail, check in at the venue on the app, and complete the Christmas lyric by scanning the QR code you’ll find on a poster at the location.

The 13 locations on the Quizmas trail are:

  • The Pot café, Newport Arcade
  • Newport Market
  • Gallery 57, Upper Dock Street
  • Diverse Vinyl, Charles Street
  • Kymin Financial, Bridge Street
  • Kingsway Shopping Centre
  • New Pastures Home, Friars Walk
  • Horton’s Lounge, Millennium Plaza
  • Le Pub, High Street
  • Vacara’s, Llanarth Street
  • Boots, Commercial Street
  • Top Image Nursery, Commercial Street
  • Queen’s Hotel, Bridge Street

Everyone who takes part in the trail will be entered into a prize draw to win one of two £50 Newport Now gift cards. The gift cards can only be spent in Newport city centre.

Taking part in the trail is easy. Simply download the LoyalFree app for free and head to the trails section for more information.

The LoyalFree app can be downloaded using this link: www.loyalfree.co.uk/download or by searching for ‘LoyalFree’ in your app store.

Post your letters to Santa

Children can post their letters to Santa in a special post box that has been installed in Newport Market.

The post box has been funded by Newport Now BID and constructed by city-based company Ollywood.

The bright red box, covered in Christmas decorations and marked ‘Letters to Santa’, will be in the market until Christmas Eve.

Situated just inside the High Street entrance to the market, youngsters can post their letters to the North Pole seven days a week.

The post box will provide families with the perfect reason to visit Newport Market, which is thriving after a huge refurbishment, during the festive season – as well as all the other great businesses in the area.

Name your favourite Newport business

Shine a light on local and nominate your favourite Newport city centre business – a £500 Newport Now Gift Card is on offer for the winning business and the person who nominated them.

Newport Now BID is encouraging people to vote for their favourite local business in the city as part of a national competition.

Help Us Find The UK’s Favourite Local Business runs to December 21. Any local business in Newport city centre can be nominated, with the business receiving the most votes across the UK being crowned as the nation’s favourite.
