On the 11th November, the 8th Cardiff Business Awards will continue to celebrate the best businesses in Cardiff and the vast potential that exists within the capital city of Wales.

Organisers are pleased to announce the Living Wage City Partnership, who are sponsoring the Employer of the Year, have joined the line-up of sponsors for the 2022 awards.   The Cardiff Living Wage City Partnership was established in 2018 to promote the benefits of the Living Wage and to help deliver a more equal Cardiff.

The Partnership is led by the council and brings together a range of organisations including Cynnal Cymru, Citizens Cymru, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, Cardiff and Vale Credit Union, Capital Law and Cardiff University. Cardiff was awarded Living Wage City status in 2019.

The Employer of the Year category criteria has been changed to reflect the aims of the partnership and the award will recognise those businesses in Cardiff that continuously invest in their employees for sustainable growth and development. They must also pay at least the real Living Wage (£9.90p/h) to all employees aged over 18.

Council leader and Cardiff Living Wage City Partnership chair Cllr Huw Thomas said:

“We are delighted that the Partnership is sponsoring the Employer of the Year award. As a Partnership we believe that paying staff the real Living Wage should be a cornerstone of every organisation and my administration is doing everything it can to promote this as part of our Stronger, Greener and Fairer policy agenda. In Cardiff, more than 64,000 people now work for accredited Living Wage employers, putting an estimated £39m into the economy as a result and reducing the number of people earning below the Living Wage in the city from 42,000 in 2017 to 24,000 in 2021. We would encourage all employers to look at the benefits to both their business and their staff of becoming an accredited Living Wage employer and to enter this award.”

The 2022 awards are also sponsored and supported by Euroclad, our headline sponsors, Cardiff Council, Business News Wales, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Charles Stanley Wealth Managers, Genesis Biosciences, United Worldwide Logistics, Vindico, Visit Cardiff, Lexon Group and Stills.

Organised by Grapevine Event Management, the awards are open for entry until the 9th September. There are seventeen categories that are free to enter and companies can enter up to two categories. The winners will be announced at the black tie award ceremony on the 11th November in City Hall.
