Substantial Swansea Pharmacy Sold for the First Time in Over 26 Years

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Hanford’s Chemist in Llansamlet, Swansea.

Hanford’s Chemist is a high-volume health centre pharmacy dispensing on average 18,000 items per month.

The business has been owned by Mrs Patricia Edmunds for over 26 years and was brought to market to allow her to retire. Through a confidential sales process managed by Jonathan Board at Christie & Co, it has been sold to regional pharmacy operator, Overdrake Limited.

Patricia Edmunds, previous owner of Hanford’s Chemist, comments:

“I am absolutely delighted to have sold my business and look forward to a long and peaceful retirement.”

Jonathan Board, Director – Medical at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments:

“The exceptional interest we received in this business demonstrates that the demand for well-established, high-volume pharmacies continues apace. It’s no secret that there are a number of pressures for operators, including rising costs and wages, yet we continue to receive multiple bids on the majority of the pharmacies we take to market.”

JCP Solicitors in Swansea acted for the seller and Hugh James in Cardiff acted on behalf of the purchaser.

Hanford’s Chemist was sold for an undisclosed amount.
