Laura Sandys and James Williams – Sero

Cardiff-based net zero specialist Sero has announced a new non-executive director to the board.

Laura Sandys CBE will join as a lead on EDI and also bring her policy and regulatory experience to the board.

Having worked in energy transformation for 20 years, Laura works globally to drive the digitalisation of the energy system and has been focused on customer centric solutions to the transition.

She is passionate about social justice and co-chaired with The Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP, Caroline Lucas MP and Hilary Benn MP, the Environmental Justice Commission, and founded Powerful Women which promotes diversity in the energy sector.

Laura currently chairs The Green Alliance and the British Standards Institute Advisory Board on Net Zero, as well as being an advisor to the International Energy Agency on smart grids. She was previously a member of the UK Government’s Energy Efficiency Taskforce chairing the domestic efficiency working group that includes retrofit. In addition, Laura is on the board of SSE Transmission, Ohme Global, and Highview Power.

Laura will now join the Sero board to leverage her experience in the energy sector and transfer her skill set to help propel Sero’s Funded Retrofit Solutions within the social housing sector.

As the founder and chair of The Food Foundation, Laura is dedicated to helping lower-income households by advocating for better policies and sustainable systems.
