Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, a renewable energy company owned by the Welsh Government, operating on behalf of and with the people of Wales, is inviting local people to take part in the statutory pre-application consultation for the proposed Larnog Solar Farm.
Located in Lavernock, between Sully and Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan, the project would make an important contribution to energy security by providing approximately 35MW of installed clean energy capacity, equivalent to power approximately 13,800 average Welsh homes.
There are plans to improve nature across the site, as well as an annual community benefit fund of £400 per MW of installed capacity, equivalent to more than half a million pounds over the lifetime of the project.
Daniel Patterson, Project Manager at Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, said:
“We’re looking forward to returning to the local community following our informal consultation earlier this year, which gave us a valuable opportunity to hear from residents.
“Since then, we have carefully considered the feedback received, spoken to local experts and carried out further site surveys. All this information has been used to shape the project’s design.
“This statutory consultation period offers another opportunity for residents to provide feedback, to ensure this project delivers lasting benefits for the Vale of Glamorgan.”
The consultation will run from 11 November to 15 December 2026. Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru is hosting two drop-in events where residents can view project information boards and maps, read the draft planning application, and provide feedback. The events will take place at Lower Penarth Community Hall at:
- 3pm-7pm, Friday 13 November 2026
- 10am – 2pm, Saturday 14 November 2026
The consultation materials and an online feedback form will be available online throughout the consultation at www.trydanlarnog.wales.
