The team at Specsavers Barry has marked 25 years of serving the local community with a day of in-store celebrations.
Specsavers Barry welcomed customers, local sponsors and community partners into the store, with Bro Radio broadcasting live from the anniversary event.
Over the past 25 years, the locally owned and run store has continued to develop its services and invest in the local community.
In 2022, Specsavers Barry relocated to the former HSBC building on Holton Road following a £500,000 expansion that more than tripled the store’s footprint.
The number of test rooms increased from four to seven while the number of audiology clinics doubled.
The team has also supported local schools, grassroots sports teams, charities and community groups through long-standing partnerships and sponsorships.
Alongside routine eye tests and hearing checks, the store offers a range of NHS-funded enhanced eye care services, helping customers access care closer to home while reducing pressure on local NHS services.
Retail director and dispensing optician Jamie Pullen says:
“We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating 25 years in Barry. Over the years, we’ve continued to invest in our store, our services and our team, while building strong relationships with customers and the wider community.
“Our relocation to Holton Road was a significant milestone for the business, allowing us to expand our facilities and the services we offer locally. It’s fantastic to now be celebrating 25 years of serving the Barry community.
“We’d like to thank all our customers, sponsors, community partners and team members for their continued support. We look forward to continuing to support the people of Barry for many years to come.”
The celebrations also marked 25 years of service with Specsavers for call centre manager Kath McNicholas. To mark the milestone, Kath was presented with a £500 voucher in recognition of her long-standing contribution to the store and its customers.
