Newport Food Festival returns to the city centre on Saturday 3 October bringing together local producers, regional traders, street food vendors, live entertainment and a packed programme of activities for all ages.
Newport Now BID (Business Improvement District) is renewing its sponsorship of the event again this year and will partner with festival organisers to help promote one of Newport's most-loved annual events, while championing the businesses that contribute to the city's economy.
The BID's sponsorship will give all businesses the opportunity to play a part in the Food Festival in a variety of ways, from providing food and drink samples to visitors to bringing their shopfronts outside (within licensed areas and by application), and from taking part in a family-friendly trail via the Newport Now app to taking advantage of an in-store promotional toolkit.
Kevin Ward, Newport Now manager, said:
“The BID has been supporting the Food Festival since 2017 and we are delighted to continue doing so this year.
“In previous years, we have sponsored elements of the festival such as the chef demonstrations.
“This year, our sponsorship is providing our members with the opportunity play a part in the festival to ensure it is an event for the whole city centre.
“BID members should look out for more information on our website (www.newportnow.co.uk), social media and e-news in the next few days.”
Celebrating the best of Welsh and regional food and drink, the festival will feature over 70 stalls, located on Westgate Square, Bridge Street and High Street, bringing the streets alive with smells and sights to whet everyone's appetite!
On the menu once again will be the popular chef demonstrations which will be dishing out delicious samples at Newport Market. Keep an eye out for the celebrity chef announcement.
Returning for its second year will be the festival's dedicated Street Food and Live Music Zone that will take over John Frost Square. It will offer visitors a chance to relax, enjoy a wide range of street food and soak up live music throughout the day.
There will also be free entertainment across the city centre, including roaming street performers, balloon modelling, live acoustic music hosted by Newport City Radio outside The Place, and performances from Gwent Music at Newport Market.
Visitors looking for a more relaxed experience can head to the Age Friendly Community Zone, taking place at the Mercure Hotel between 10am and 2pm.
