New Western Power Distribution Swansea Scheme Underway

Construction has started on a new multi-million depot and vehicle maintenance facility for Western Power Distribution in Swansea.

Speller Metcalfe has been appointed as contractor to deliver the BREEM Very Good rated scheme, which is undergoing a major refurbishment and fit-out programme.

Previously used by Pure Wafer International, the remodelled depot will provide offices, warehousing, a design centre, meeting spaces, IT and communication rooms, as well as garages and a distribution centre.

“This is our 14th scheme as approved contractor for Western Power Distribution, and we are delighted to be able to provide them with a modern, purpose-built site that meets regional business needs,” said Rob Lashford, regional director for Speller Metcalfe.

“We will be working hard to deliver the BREEAM Very Good rating, which follows successful BREEAM credentials at a number of our Western Power Distribution depots, including the Spilsby scheme in Lincolnshire which was named as the highest rated BREEAM Outstanding project in the world, achieving 101.9% in 2013.

The Swansea scheme is set to complete in autumn 2020.
