Jones Bros Contracts Directors Secure Industry Fellowship

(L-R) Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK contracts directors Eryl Roberts, Hefin Lloyd-Davies, Garod Evans, and Geraint Thomas.

Four senior leaders at a North Wales civil engineering firm have landed a top industry accolade.

Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK contracts directors Eryl Roberts, Garod Evans, Geraint Thomas, and Hefin Lloyd-Davies have individually secured the prestigious Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Fellowship.

Internationally recognised as the highest honour for industry professionals, becoming a fellow signals leadership expertise and achievements.

Support, advice, and guidance was provided by Keith Jones FICE, the regional director at ICE Wales Cymru.

The quartet possess more than 100 years of combined experience with Jones Bros, progressing through the ranks to become contracts directors in 2018.

Alongside members of the Jones family, led by chairman Huw Jones MBE, all four have held a place on the board since 2023, playing a key role in the future of the company.

Huw said:

“Jones Bros prides itself on providing opportunities for clear career progression, and Eryl, Garod, Geraint, and Hefin epitomise that mantra.

“All four of them are perfect examples of how far hard work and dedication can get you with our company, and I know they provide inspiration for team members at every level, from apprentices to more senior figures.

“For them to earn the ICE Fellowship is a testament to the constant growth and development taking place at Jones Bros.”

Hefin began his career with the company in 1993 as a project civil engineer after completing a HND in civil engineering and Garod joined in 2010 as a project manager, having completed summer placements at Jones Bros as a student from 1994-97.

Geraint and Eryl both started life with the firm as students in 2000 and 2001 respectively.

Major projects overseen by Hefin in recent years include the A487 Caernarfon and Bontnewydd bypass and the B5605 Newbridge Landslip Remediation scheme.

He said:

“It’s another milestone for both me and the company, with all four of the contracts directors receiving their Fellowship.

“It shows that Jones Bros is constantly evolving and determined to make year-on-year progress.”

Garod, whose recent portfolio includes Dogger Bank Wind Farm, the world’s largest offshore wind farm, and North Kyle Wind Farm in Scotland, said:

“Support and collaboration is key to how we operate as a company, whether that’s personal development or on major UK-wide schemes.

“I look forward to continuing to contribute to the profession and support the development of future engineers.”

Havant Thicket Reservoir, the UK’s first major water-storage reservoir in more than three decades, and Kinmel Bay Coastal Defence scheme, are led by Geraint.

He said:

“It was a tremendous experience and a real honour securing the Fellowship.

“The opportunities to grow at Jones Bros are clear for all to see but this just underlines the strength of collaboration and guidance, regardless of whether you are an apprentice or have many years of knowledge.”

Eryl is currently handling ventures including the Uskmouth Sustainable Energy Park development and the Cydnerth Project, which is the expansion of the Morlais tidal energy scheme.

“We are all proud and grateful to have received the Fellowship, which can act as a further springboard for even greater success at Jones Bros,” he said.

“The company is in a really strong position as we look to build on solid foundations by expanding our portfolio of work and clients we work with.”
