Andrew Scott Ltd has commenced a £4m project at Townhill Primary School in Swansea on behalf of Swansea Council.
The project, which has been funded by the Welsh Government, will see the demolition of the existing canteen and construction of a new facility incorporating a modern kitchen, expanded dining area, flexible community spaces and an all-weather multi-use games area.
The new building has been designed to meet increased demand following the rollout of free school meals to all primary school pupils in Wales, whilst also providing facilities that can be used by the wider community outside of school hours.

The project will incorporate energy-efficient building measures, supporting reduced operational energy use and improving the overall environmental performance of the school estate.
Mark Bowen, Managing Director at Andrew Scott Ltd, said:
“We are delighted to have commenced works at Townhill Primary School on behalf of Swansea Council. This investment represents a significant commitment to enhancing educational and community facilities in Swansea that will serve pupils and the wider community for many years to come.”
Andrew Scott Ltd is also committed to delivering social value through the project, including engagement with local schools and the creation of opportunities for skills development and employment within the region.
The Swansea based contractor will support trainees and early careers initiatives throughout the programme, helping to provide hands-on experience and pathways into the construction industry.
