The family-run construction firm, Jehu Group saw twenty teams from partner companies based across South Wales and across the bridge, take on 18 holes at Cottrell Park Golf Club to raise money to support carers across Wales on Friday 6 September.

Despite the awful weather during the first half of the event, the golf day raised more than £3,800 across the four-ball competition. In addition to funds raised directly from the golf partner organisations donated fantastic prizes for a raffle enjoyed by all and a silent auction for a chance to win   a Welsh rugby shirt signed by the World Cup team, donated by Encon Insulation

The team from Roberts Limbrick had a fantastically successful day winning the competition with a score of 93, and also picking up best individual player through Alex Palmer with a very impressive 43.

Dafydd Cantwell, Director of Land and Partnerships at Jehu Group said:

“It was fantastic to see so many teams getting involved with our inaugural golf day and competition. The weather wasn’t the best, but it didn’t dampen any spirits and we raised a great amount for our chosen charity, the Carers Trust Wales. Thanks to everyone who joined us and hopefully, we will see everyone again for next year’s competition.”

The prizes were presented by Simon Hatch, Director at Carers Trust Wales added:

“I was delighted to attend the Jehu Group Inaugural Golf Day held as part of our charitable fundraising partnership. We are grateful to the Jehu team who put in an incredible effort to host such a fantastic event to raise funds for our charity.

“Three in five people will become a carer in their lifetime and the funds raised through this event will support us to continue to deliver action, information and support for Wales’ 370,000 unpaid carers.

“Thank you to Jehu and their business partners for your continued support.”

The companies represented at the golf day included Hugh James solicitors, Asbri Planning, SET Office Supplies, Fusion Building Systems, Candleston Homes, Spring Design, WYG, Roberts Limbrick, Blake Morgan, Quad Consult, Concept Fire & Electrical, ISTL Engineering, Gibbs Surfacing, Ramtech Electronics, Encon Insulation, AC Roof Trusses, Keyline and Cemex.

Mike Fairey, from Fusion Building Systems commented:

“We are a new partner working with the Jehu Group and we were really pleased to be supporting the golf event, as it’s for charity and it’s always good to go out and have a bit of enjoyment alongside the seriousness of construction.”

This was supported by Lyndon Griffiths, land director from Candleston Homes and Melin Homes:

‘It was great to be supporting the Jehu event as it’s all for charity and a good cause.”

Jehu Group will be continuing to raise money for the charity over the next year, with their annual triathlon on Friday 27 September, set to be another record year of entries. There will be more than 80 individuals, as well as over 50 teams, joining Olympic triathletes Helen and Marc Jenkins.
