The Auditor General has published an infographic on the NHS (Wales) summarised accounts for 2019-20

Our new infographic, published today by the Auditor General, consolidates the results of the 11 Welsh NHS bodies and provides a summary of its finances.

Fraud Public sector financial accounting and reporting requirements are detailed and complex. Our new infographic provides a straightforward, accessible summary, highlighting key aspects of the accounts and assurances provided as part of our audit.

Our infographic explains how public money is being used by the NHS in Wales and provides a summary of the NHS bodies’ financial performance. Our NHS summary covers seven local health boards, three NHS Trusts and one special health authority.

As shown by the infographic, the NHS in Wales is funded primarily by the Welsh Government, and in 2019-20 it spent £8.7 billion. It employs 83,000 people working in the community, in hospital settings and in support services.

This is a new format we are presenting financial accounts data for the public sector, to make the information more understandable for the general public. The NHS accounts infographic is the first we plan to publish before the end of 2020. Welsh Government and local government (all 22 local authorities) accounts infographics will be published in a similar format later this year.

Auditor General, Adrian Crompton said today:

“The NHS Wales summarised accounts for 2019-20 are true and fair, but four Welsh NHS bodies failed to meet their financial duty to break-even over a three-year period. These four bodies had accumulated deficits of £354 million over the last three years. The 2019-20 deficit was £89 million, compared to £96 million the previous year.

In terms of our new infographic, I’m pleased that we have come up with a visual representation of the NHS accounts and I look forward to seeing what the picture looks like for the upcoming local government accounts and Welsh Government accounts that will follow this autumn.”

Mae’r Archwilydd Cyffredinol wedi cyhoeddi ffeithlun ar gyfrifon cryno GIG (Cymru) ar gyfer 2019-20

Mae ein ffeithlun newydd, a gyhoeddwyd heddiw gan yr Archwilydd Cyffredinol, yn cydgrynhoi canlyniadau 11 corff GIG Cymru ac yn darparu crynodeb o’i gyllid.

Mae gofynion adrodd a chyfrifyddu ariannol y sector cyhoeddus yn fanwl ac yn gymhleth. Mae ein ffeithlun newydd yn darparu crynodeb hygyrch a syml, sy’n amlygu prif agweddau’r cyfrifon a’r sicrwydd a ddarparwyd yn rhan o’n harchwiliad.

Mae ein ffeithlun yn esbonio sut y caiff arian cyhoeddus ei ddefnyddio gan y GIG yng Nghymru ac yn darparu crynodeb o berfformiad ariannol cyrff y GIG. Mae ein crynodeb GIG yn cynnwys saith bwrdd iechyd lleol, tair ymddiriedolaeth GIG ac un awdurdod iechyd arbennig.

Fel y dangosir gan y ffeithlun, caiff y GIG yng Nghymru ei ariannu yn bennaf gan Lywodraeth Cymru, ac yn 2019-20 fe wariodd £8.7 biliwn. Mae’n cyflogi 83,000 o bobl sy’n gweithio yn y gymuned, mewn lleoliadau ysbytai ac mewn gwasanaethau cymorth.

Bydd ffeithluniau cyfrifon Llywodraeth Cymru a llywodraeth leol (pob un o’r 22 awdurdod lleol) yn cael eu cyhoeddi mewn fformat tebyg yn ddiweddarach eleni.

Heddiw, dywedodd yr Archwilydd Cyffredinol, Adrian Crompton:

“Mae cyfrifon cryno GIG Cymru ar gyfer 2019-20 yn wir ac yn deg, ond fe wnaeth pedwar corff GIG yng Nghymru fethu â chyflawni eu dyletswydd ariannol i adennill costau dros gyfnod o dair blynedd. Roedd y pedwar corff hwn wedi cronni diffygion ariannol o £354 miliwn dros y tair blynedd diwethaf. Roedd diffyg ariannol 2019-20 yn £89 miliwn, o’i gymharu â £96 miliwn y flwyddyn flaenorol.

O ran ein ffeithlun newydd, rwy’n falch ein bod ni wedi llwyddo i gynhyrchu cynrychiolaeth weledol o gyfrifon y GIG ac rwy’n edrych ymlaen at weld beth fydd y darlun ar gyfer cyfrifon llywodraeth leol a chyfrifon Llywodraeth Cymru sydd i ddod yn yr hydref.”
