A Llandudno manager has scooped a prestigious Pride in the Job “Quality Award” from the National Home Building Council (NHBC).

Bleddyn Jones, from Tremadog, Gwynedd, won the accolade for his role overseeing work for Anwyl Homes at Parc Bodafon in Llandudno.

One of just 450 winners from around 8,200 entrants across the UK, the award puts Bleddyn in the top 5% of site managers nationally.

He said:

“I was elated when I heard I’d won. This job is not without its challenges and it’s all down to teamwork; one person can’t do this on their own. Thank you to my main team on site, Mat, Alex and Tommie, not to mention all my subcontractors and everyone ‘behind the scenes’ in the office at Anwyl for their support.”

Just 10 homes are yet to be sold at Parc Bodafon, which has taken shape over the past two years off Nant y Gamar Road.

Bleddyn added:

“We’re really proud of how the development is progressing. There are some stunning new house types here with large apex windows and balconies. The best bit of the job is when I hand a quality Anwyl house over to a customer and they love it.”

Bleddyn, 47, began his career in construction almost 30 years ago as a labourer, following in the footsteps of his late father and uncle who had both been in the trade. He worked in groundworks, refurbishments, and commercial construction, progressing through the ranks up to site management roles, before joining Anwyl eight years ago.

No stranger to plaudits, Bleddyn was previously in charge of two award-winning developments. Last year Glyn Farm, in Colwyn Bay scooped the LABC Best High Volume New Housing Development in Wales last year and, before that, Parc Tirionfa in Rhuddlan won the same title in 2022.

Now in its 45th year and widely considered the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry, Pride in the Job celebrates site managers’ dedication to raising standards in house building, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence.

Judging is rigorous, with assessment across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.

Iain Murray, construction director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said:

“Bleddyn is gaining an excellent reputation for winning awards for his developments. We’re delighted for him and the team that they have been recognised with an NHBC Quality Award for their outstanding efforts at Parc Bodafon. The high standards achieved on site are reflected in the quality of the homes on offer to our customers.”

Steve Wood, CEO at NHBC, said:

“Congratulations to all the winners. They have demonstrated the dedication, passion and leadership skills necessary to deliver new homes to exacting construction quality standards.

“Thousands of outstanding site managers have made their mark on the industry in the 45 years Pride in the Job has been running. This continued focus on excellence is vital to support the Government’s 1.5 million new homes target and to ensure that all housing is built to the quality owners and occupiers should expect.”

The Quality Award winners will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in the autumn, with the national Supreme Award winners unveiled in January 2026.
