A Deeside-based procurement manager was shortlisted for a major national award recognising excellence in supply chain and logistics.
Nancy Behan, who works at MM Packaging in Deeside, was named as a finalist for the Supply Chain & Logistics Excellence Award at the Women in Packaging Excellence Awards 2026. The awards, which took place last week, celebrate outstanding women working across the UK packaging industry, recognising leadership, innovation and long-term contribution to the sector.
Nancy’s nomination highlights a career journey spanning more than 27 years at MM Packaging Deeside, where she began working on the factory floor as a gluing assistant before progressing through a range of operational roles.
Over the years, she has worked in quality and waste management before moving into procurement, where she now plays a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the site’s supply chain and purchasing operations. Nancy has built strong relationships with suppliers and teams across the business, helping to keep materials moving efficiently and ensuring costs and waste are carefully managed.
Her role has also seen her contribute to major business challenges and strategic projects. During the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, Nancy was instrumental in advising the business on the need for a customs broker to help maintain supply chain continuity. She has also been a strong supporter of sustainability initiatives, including MM Packaging’s closed-loop projects aimed at reducing waste and increasing the use of recycled materials.
Alongside her day-to-day responsibilities, Nancy is also focused on supporting the next generation of talent within the business. As her team grows, she is helping to train and mentor new staff, encouraging apprenticeships and sharing her detailed knowledge of how the operation works.
David Whitworth, Managing Director at MM Packaging Deeside, said:
“Nancy’s journey through the business is a great example of where hard work and determination can lead. She understands the operation inside out and continues to make a real difference every day, so we’re delighted and proud to see her recognised with this nomination for a national award.”
