Cyber Pioneer Recognised with Honorary Fellowship by the University of South Wales


Damon Rands, the founder and CEO of distinguished cyber security firm PureCyber, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the University of South Wales (USW) in recognition of his contributions to the field of cyber security,

A true product of Welsh education, Mr. Rands' journey began in the halls of a college in Pontypool, leading him to become a Computer Science graduate from the University of Glamorgan, now known as USW.

This USW Fellowship marks not just a personal achievement for Mr Rands but also signifies the profound impact of his work in the ever-evolving realm of cyber security.

With a career spanning more than three decades, he has been at the forefront of cyber security innovation. His journey with PureCyber, initially named Wolfberry, has been a story of relentless growth and unwavering dedication.

Today, PureCyber stands as a team of 28 experts based in Cardiff, celebrated for its innovative approaches and recognised as the ‘Most Innovative Cyber Security Company in the UK' and ‘Best International Cyber Consultancy Firm in the UK'.

Mr. Rands' expertise extends beyond the borders of the United Kingdom. His recent ventures involve constructing secure systems and instilling best practices in companies worldwide, safeguarding their intellectual properties and private data against the rising tide of cyber threats.

Beyond his entrepreneurial endeavours, Mr Rands has also played a pivotal role in fostering a collaborative environment in the cyber security community.

His co-founding of the South Wales Cyber Security Cluster, and similar initiatives abroad, have been instrumental in uniting experts and resources in a unified front against cyber threats. Additionally, his advisory roles across various education and government boards have been crucial in shaping policies and standards in cyber resilience and education.
