Openreach is made up of four divisions – service delivery, fibre and network delivery, strategic infrastructure development, and headquarters.

They tackle complicated engineering problems – from coordinating works with councils, highways agencies, energy suppliers and landowners, to installing and maintaining the complex kit that provides fibre broadband services.

Connecting Wales Through Fibre Community Partnerships

A scheme designed to bring ultrafast full fibre broadband to communities across Wales is being highlighted by a major infrastructure provider.

Openreach is investing more than £15 billion to upgrade broadband infrastructure across the UK. Full fibre is the UK's most reliable broadband technology, and Openreach’s full fibre network already covers more than 56% of homes and businesses across Wales.

Now it is urging communities which are not part of current rollout plans, either from Openreach or the plans of other companies and publicly subsidised projects, to consider its Fibre Community Partnership (FCP) programme.

The FCP programme works with the local community to arrange a customised installation plan, whether installing new fibre for the first time or to upgrade existing connections.

Business News Wales spoke to Martin Williams, Openreach Partnership Director for Wales, about how a business or household can get started with the FCP programme, how it works, and the three ways of obtaining the funding needed.
