Carly Yeates is the Digital Communications Lead at South Wales Police. She has been with the force for five years, having previously worked in similar roles for Sport Wales and John Lewis. Huw Silk has been a Digital Communications Officer at South Wales Police for almost two years and is a journalist by training – previously working for Media Wales.

This session will talk about how we use social media on behalf of the largest police force in Wales for a variety of functions, from issuing appeals to publishing crime prevention advice and giving the public the opportunity to help in the fight against crime. It will explain how we aim to break down barriers between the public and the police through online engagement, and by posting content on relevant and interesting topics and in lively, shareable formats – all the while balancing those ambitions with the force’s core policing purposes and reflecting the fact it is a public-sector organisation.
