The Welsh Government’s Minister for Economy and Transport recently launched ‘An approach to Supporting Entrepreneurial Women in Wales’ initiative. This approach aims to illustrate ways in which business support organisations in Wales can engage with and better support women entrepreneurs in a more gender-focused way.
The proposed approach comprises of a suite of documents that support organisations to review their services and take practical steps to improve the gender-focus of their delivery. Included are an overall report that highlights the barriers entrepreneurial women face, a Good Practice Guide for supporting organisations to consider and adopt, an Action Plan detailing what we aim to achieve with our Business Wales service, a web page with practical information for women entrepreneurs and organisations and a Twitter hash tag to share experiences and information. There is also a web page on Be the Spark for business support organisations to showcase what they are doing.
This is one of a number of regional follow on events to raise awareness of this approach and engage with business support organisations and entrepreneurs across Wales. The events are supported by Lloyds Banking Group and will include guest speakers from the bank and a member of the advisory Panel. There will be Welsh Government and Business Wales staff to speak to along with members of the Federation of Small Business. It will also be a great opportunity for networking.
