Young People and Community Leaders Come Together at the Great Council Bake Off

Young people from across Pembrokeshire teamed up with local councillors, service leads, and community representatives for the seventh annual Great Council Bake Off.

Held at Milford Haven Youth Centre and organised by Milford Haven Youth Council, the event brought together seven teams, each made up of a young person and a local decision-maker.

Together, they took on the challenge of creating their best bake before presenting it to a panel of judges.

Judging the event were Cllr Maureen Bowen, Chair of Pembrokeshire County Council, Henry Tufnell MP, Member of Parliament for Mid and South Pembrokeshire and Steve Davis, Chief Officer for Youth and Community Education.

While the event was all about connection and creativity, there was also a competitive edge — and after careful tasting and deliberation, the winning team was announced as Pembrokeshire Youth Bank.

Their bake, Lemon Drizzle cake, wowed the judges with both its flavour and presentation.

A special mention also went to Pembrokeshire Junior Safeguardians and Off The Streets Forum highlighting the talent and enthusiasm shown across the board.

Nadine Farmer, Children and Young People’s Rights Officer said:

“We’re so proud of everyone who took part. This isn’t just about cake, it’s about connection. Events like this help young people feel heard and valued and give decision-makers a real insight into what matters to them.”
