Winners Announced for the 2026 BAFTA Cymru Awards

The winners of the 35th BAFTA Cymru Awards have been announced this evening at a special ceremony at the ICC Wales in Newport, hosted by Welsh TV presenter Owain Wyn Evans.

The BAFTA Cymru Awards are the biggest annual celebration of creative excellence across film and television in Wales.

Y Golau: Dwr wins two awards, Television Drama award, and Mali Evans wins for Editing. The Guest also received two awards, Matthew Barry wins for Writer and Gabrielle Creevy receives the Actress award – her second BAFTA Cymru Actress win. Y Crwydryn wins the Single Documentary award, with Rhys Edwards winning Director Factual for the same show.

Matthew Rhys wins the Actor award for his performance in The Beast in Me, his second BAFTA Cymru award. Mari Grug won her first BAFTA Cymru Award for presenter in Mari Grug: Yn dydd Ar Y Tro.

Amour a Mynydd wins the Entertainment Programme award and Stori'r Iaith received the Factual Series award. Mr Burton wins the Feature/Television Film award.

The Short Film category was won by Gofod Ymennydd – Brain Space, and the Children's Programme went to Itopia.

In total, 17 competitive awards were presented across the evening as well as two BAFTA Outstanding Contribution Awards.

Broadcaster and presenter Carol Vorderman MBE was awarded the BAFTA Cymru Siân Phillips Award for Outstanding Contribution to Television, one of BAFTA Cymru's highest honours, presented by Owain Wyn Evans, while casting Director Lauren Evans was awarded the inaugural BAFTA Cymru Outstanding Contribution to Craft Award, presented by actor Sion Daniel Young.
