The Independent General Practice (iGP) is marking its first anniversary in West Wales.
It is celebrating one year since achieving Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) registration and expanding access to private healthcare in the heart of Carmarthen.
In its first year, the Welsh clinic – which also has locations in Cardiff, Newport, and Swansea – has delivered over 1,500 patient appointments, responding to a growing demand for fast, flexible GP access, nurse appointments, consultant-led services, and a range of specialist care in West Wales.
Alongside its private GP services, iGP has also seen a rise in demand for its preventative health checks, menopause support, specialist women’s health and gynaecology services, dermatology and teledermoscopy (mole imaging), and adult cardiology services.
Since opening, the private clinic has also expanded its service offering in Carmarthen to give residents access to private physiotherapy and talking therapies.
Dr Joanna Longstaffe, Founder and Director, said:
“Reaching our first anniversary in Carmarthen is a really proud milestone for us. Our aim from the outset was to bring high-quality, accessible private healthcare into the heart of the community, and the response over the past year has been incredibly encouraging.
“We’ve seen just how important longer GP appointments, flexibility, and local access to specialist services are for people managing busy lives and health challenges. And as we look ahead, we’re excited to continue growing our services in Carmarthen.”
