Former international professional football player Thomas (Hal) Robson-Kanu, who scored one of the most iconic goals of Euro 2016 sending Wales into the semi-finals, found turmeric shots invaluable in recovery from an injury and alongside his father, Rechi, he has turned his knowledge into a thriving natural health drink business, The Turmeric Co. Co-founders of The Turmeric Co, Thomas and Rechi are the latest guests to share their behind-the-scenes story on family business podcast, It Runs In The Family.

Thomas’ high profile football career nearly met an undefeatable hurdle through injury, but he and his father, Rechi, created a natural nutritional drinks recipe that nursed the athlete back to optimal health. Thomas and Rechi join mother and daughter podcast hosts, Liz and Leila Willingham, on episode 32 of It Runs In The Family to share insights in to what began as a family solution to help alleviate the Welsh international’s injury and became The Turmeric Co, a successful turmeric shot drinks business brimming with passion and commitment helping people achieve their potential.

Podcast host Liz Willingham says:

“The Turmeric Co was inspired by the former premier league striker’s passion for natural nutrition as a means for supporting athletes’ performance, recovery, and immunity to keep them at the top of their game.

“World class football teams need structure, consistency, and a process-driven approach – all parallels that find themselves emerging in The Turmeric Co. This is thanks in no small part to the wildly successful career of Thomas Robson-Kanu, and the dedicated mindset of his father, Rechi Kanu. Our listeners will discover the full story behind the company which was borne of Thomas’ injury struggles and is now helping others to achieve their potential.”

This episode covers:

  • The parallels between Thomas’ professional footballing mindset and their approach to running The Turmeric Co.
  • Rechi’s tireless research in creating the finest quality product, and maintaining that quality at scale
  • How the difference in opinion often helps to filter down to the most well thought out ideas

Podcast co-host Leila adds:

“From speaking to this father and son founding team we got a real sense of their drive, determination, and dedication – assets that clearly run in their family and were present before the product was available to the public. Their proposition and USPs have been formed from the best most organic place possible and from a PR perspective their story is just a dream – a former athlete whose father’s skills nursed him to recovery, and together that pairing of helping others, sports people or not, to lead healthier lives.”
