Welsh Finance Professional Scoops Top Industry Accolade

By Finance / Investment · 1 Nov 2026 · 2 min read

Owen Davies, FCCA, Head of Finance at Transport for Wales, has received ACCA UK’s inaugural Finance Impact Award.

At a ceremony in central London, Owen was joined by five other winners at ACCA UK’s first ever industry awards. They are designed to celebrate finance professionals making an impact through leadership, innovation, talent development, community contribution or professional excellence.

Receiving his award from ACCA president Melanie Proffitt, Owen said:

“I came away from the ACCA Finance Futures Conference genuinely excited about the future of our profession. Accountancy is no longer defined simply by technical expertise, routines and numbers. Increasingly, we are leaders, commercial thinkers, innovators and people who make a real difference within our organisations and communities.

“ACCA is showing real ambition in preparing the profession for that future, and that was reflected in the calibre of speakers and conversations held throughout the day. Here in Wales, we also have a fantastic opportunity to bring together our businesses, universities and professional community to develop the next generation of finance talent. To receive the ACCA Impact Award alongside that was an enormous honour.”

The judges praised Owen for his innovation, strategic thinking and measurable results which helped shape the future of finance while delivering meaningful outcomes for stakeholders at Transport for Wales.

The awards celebrate the ACCA UK community, from students taking their first steps into the profession, to emerging leaders, influential members and organisations championing talent development, through to senior executives whose leadership is shaping the future of finance.

Chelsea Shelley, Head of Member Engagement, ACCA UK, said:

“This initiative showcases an incredible range of achievements from members, employers and finance professionals across the UK.”

Melanie Proffitt, ACCA president, said:

“It was great to be here today and a privilege to hand out these awards to members of the ACCA community in the UK. Presenting these awards is one of my last acts as ACCA president and the passion, energy and commitment demonstrated by these winners today is typical of the attributes I have seen displayed by ACCA members across the globe over the past year. This should fill us all with optimism for the future.”
