A primary school in Tredegar has received a replacement minibus after its previous vehicle was stolen and destroyed.
St Joseph's RC School said the loss of the minibus had a significant impact on pupils, affecting school trips, sports fixtures and other activities.
Local firm David Spear Commercials has now supplied a replacement vehicle at a reduced cost. The minibus has been fully prepared and signwritten, allowing it to be used immediately.
The company has close links with the school, which is located around a mile from its site. Two of its employees, brothers Lewis and Daniel Parfitt, are former pupils and were taught by the current headteacher, Mr John McMorrow.
David Spear Commercials also supplied the original minibus several years ago.
Lewis Parfitt, Head of Sales at the company, said the business wanted to help ensure pupils did not miss out.
“When something like this happens in your local community, you step in where you can. It's important the school and its pupils continue to have access to opportunities outside the classroom.”
The school is now expected to resume trips and activities using the replacement vehicle.
