Local tourism businesses are invited to add some new ingredients to their marketing mix this week.
Swansea Council’s Tourism Team is hosting a free industry event at the Guildhall on Wednesday 15 May at 10am to help local tourism businesses of all sizes to make the most of the millions of visitors who’ll be spending their time here this year.
The industry is worth more than £447m to the Swansea economy and employs over 5,700 people.
Robert Francis-Davies, Cabinet Member for Innovation, Regeneration and Tourism, said the Council’s annual Tourism Stakeholder Day aims to support local tourism businesses to showcase their products and services in the best possible light.
“It’s a free event open to all local tourism operators and our theme this year will be looking at what businesses can do to promote themselves on digital platforms.
“As Swansea celebrates its 50th anniversary as a city, it is fitting that we focus upon the biggest thing to revolutionise tourism marketing in the last 50 years.
“Businesses will get the inside track on how they can benefit from what Visit Swansea Bay and Visit Wales are doing, plus there’ll be advice on hand from Business Wales and Menter a Busnes.”
Also on the menu will be food writer, broadcaster and restaurateur Simon Wright who runs Wright’s Food Emporium.
He’ll be sharing some of the secrets of his success as part of Swansea Council’s contribution to Wales Tourism Week which runs from May 11-19.

“Wales Tourism Week is co-ordinated by the Wales Tourism Alliance and is designed to be a celebration of our fantastic tourism industry that helps put the ‘welcome’ into Wales and makes a huge contribution to the Swansea and Wales economy.
“The presentations, trade stands and opportunities for networking make the Tourism Stakeholder Day an unmissable event for all businesses involved in the Tourism Sector.”
