On Monday 30th November, the Alacrity Foundation virtually welcomed a number of attendees from across the Welsh entrepreneurial ecosystem, including key supporters, stakeholders and mentors to celebrate their 2019/20 cohort graduation with an impressive online event.

This event marked the end of the 2019/20 cohort where 12 remarkable individuals all graduated from the programme. This is the first cohort to produce three tech startup companies (Haelu, Finative and Intuitix) highlighting the programme’s success and the incredible talent and skillset of those leaving the Foundation.

The Alacrity Foundation combines graduate entrepreneurs with world-class mentors to create the next generation of digital companies. Their unique 15-month programme provides practical business training, software skills and mentoring to enable them to develop as entrepreneurs and is supported by Welsh Government, Sir Terry Matthews and The Waterloo Foundation.

Commenting during the event Dr Wil Williams, CEO of Alacrity said:

“Our 2019-20 Cohort have excelled. The Leadership Team have worked with some of the most talented, driven and resilient Founders that we encountered with since Alacrity’s inception to produce three outstanding software-based companies.

These companies will be located in Newport but operating globally. They will generate value and jobs in an economy that has to be engaged with the all-pervasive digital revolution. Congratulations to all of the teams, and now leave the Foundation, innovate, commercialise, sell your product, grow and generate significant value for you and all your backers.”

A leading light of the cohort, Evan Davies of Intuitix reflects on his time within the Alacrity programme:

‘When we started our journey at Alacrity, we were a group of strangers, united only by our desire to start a business in tech. Now we approach the end, we’re happy to say that we’re a high functioning team who love working together every day.

We’re now looking forward to our product launch in early 2021, alongside the entrance into the utilities’ sector, where we see our product delivering tremendous value. We couldn’t be more grateful for the position we’re in today and are incredibly excited for what the future of Intuitix holds.’

As the Alacrity Foundation celebrates the graduation of one cohort, they prepare themselves to welcome another into their newly refurbished hub located in Newport. The sheer size and diversity of the new intake surpasses that of any previous year – the future of the Welsh tech industry and Alacrity programme looks incredibly bright.
