The city centre venue was given the honour by trade body the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA).
The accolade follows an assessment by a judging panel.
It’s one of the most sought after prizes at the annual NABMA awards. The award was presented to Swansea at a NABMA conference in Birmingham on Thursday, January 25.
It’s the latest honour for Swansea Market which won the same title in 2015 and 2020. Judges have praised it for championing local entrepreneurs, its commitment to development, its marketing activity and its rich history.
From Monday to Saturday, Swansea Market offers a wide selection of specialist stalls trading in everything from fresh, local produce and takeaway food to antiques and bespoke gifts.
With around 100 stalls and its Market Garden, it stages events featuring live music, cookery demonstrations and entertainment suitable for all of the family.
Cabinet member and joint deputy leader David Hopkins said:

“We couldn’t have achieved this award without our dedicated market team and the help and support of our amazing customers and traders – and we thank everybody who supports the market day in day out.
“It remains pivotal to our communities, plays a key role in the council’s ongoing £1bn regeneration of Swansea and is a major factor in ensuring that people can enjoy their city centre.”

In recent years the council has invested in new public toilets at the award-winning market and introduced the Market Garden, a popular spot to eat, meet and enjoy events.
Stall occupancy is above the national average and plans are underway to revamp the external entrances to make Swansea Market yet more welcoming to shoppers and traders. Further details will be published soon.
