A challenger to the recruitment industry has firmly established its roots in Cardiff, following a fund raise through the Development Bank of Wales.

Talentscape works with employers to attract and engage with prospective employees, through the latest employer brand techniques and innovative use of artificial intelligence. The Talentscape team is already working with organisations as diverse as Allied Irish Bank, Anglian Water, Investec, GE, GWR and Rackspace – and with the investment from Development Bank of Wales, the company will now house its head office hub in the centre of Cardiff, much to the delight of its mainly Welsh management team.

Talentscape started life on the prestigious Cambridge Science Park and has gained wide scale endorsement from tech businesses across the region and globally.  Through intelligent assessment of an organisation’s culture, skillsets and employment propositions, Talentscape utilises programmatic advertising to attract exactly the right type of talent to customer organisations.

“We are actively disrupting the recruitment sector by using the technology tools we have invested in and developed over the past few years,” says Talentscape Business Development Director, Felicity Rees. “The sector has been crying out for a new approach to achieve better value and return on investment for employers. That is exactly what Talentscape is providing and we want to develop our solutions still further, with this substantial investment enabling us to significantly advance our technology platforms and service offerings. Cardiff is a great location to do that – and we know that the talent we need to achieve our goals is right here in Wales.”

Talentscape will continue to maintain its presence in Cambridge, allowing them to service their already significant and international client base, whilst their new Cardiff hub will provide a head office to further attack targeted markets.

The fund raise was successfully orchestrated and advised by Verde Corporate Finance, alongside Greenaway Scott who provided legal support. Craig Blackmore, director of Verde Corporate Finance, commented

“Bringing Talentscape’s hub into Cardiff is a major coup for Wales.  The intelligence and technology adoption that Talentscape brings to the recruitment sector is refreshing as much as it is innovative.  It was a pleasure to work alongside Felicity and the team to secure the investment they need to develop operations and grow the business to the next level.”

Tara Lee-Fox, Investment Executive at Development Bank of Wales, commented:

DBW is delighted to support Talentscape with their exciting plans and development.  Our funding has helped them to relocate to Cardiff and develop their offering. We can see that employers can engage with Talentscape’s technology and approach and the outlook is exciting for them.  The Development Bank is keen to attract innovative businesses like this into Wales and provide the funding they need to grow.”

Final word comes from Senior Corporate Finance Manager at Verde Corporate Finance, Ewa Modzelewska,

“This deals sums up everything that Cardiff and Wales is about.  An innovative business identifying Cardiff as a key location to provide a launch pad for growth – accessing innovative funding solutions and support. It’s great to bring this to a successful conclusion for Talentscape.”
