RDCP Electrical Acquires Links Electrical

RDCP Electrical has acquired Links Electrical Supplies Limited for an undisclosed sum.

RDCP Electrical is a division of RD Capital Partners (RDCP), a London-based private and diversified investment group with an enterprise value of $600 million, employing 2,000 staff members across multiple sectors in the UK.

The completion of this latest acquisition turns RDCP Electrical into a £40 million turnover business with 17 branches across the UK and forms part of the firm’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the electrical distribution sector through acquisition. RDCP Electrical already consists of Worcester Electrical Distributors Ltd and WED-Online. Finance for the deal was provided by Barclays, which was arranged by Charlie Wooldridge, Greg Allen and Mark Kerr.

With headquarters in Newtown, Wales, Links Electrical is a £17 million turnover business with 11 branches, employing 63 staff covering Wales and Shropshire. Established in November 2000 by a team led by Graeme Morgan, David Poyner and Darren Lawton in Newtown, the business has grown significantly by offering electrical products from world-leading brands. Today the business has a big focus on the renewable energy sector with a product range that includes solar panels, inverters, mounting frames and battery storage systems, as well as EV chargers and LED lighting to support customers with rising energy costs. A key differentiator is that Links Electrical offers a full design, quotation and supply solution for on-roof systems, commercial and agricultural projects.

RDCP Electrical is led by Group Chief Executive Officer Paul Clunn, who is also an Investment Director and board member at RD Capital Partners. He is supported by RD Capital Partners’ senior management team members, Sameer Rizvi, Martin O’Donoghue, and Iryna Dubylovska.

Sameer Rizvi, Founder & CEO of RD Capital Partners said:

“The acquisition of Links Electrical marks a significant milestone for Worcester Electrical Distributors, formally allowing us to launch RDCP Electrical—a buy-and-build strategy within the UK electrical distribution sector. With a turnover of £40 million, RDCP Electrical is now one of the largest operators within AWEBB.* Our goal is to at least double this turnover by the end of 2025. We are particularly excited to partner with Darren Lawton of Links Electrical and are proud to support Paul Clunn, Group CEO of RDCP Electrical, as he leads this next phase of growth.”

Paul Clunn, Group CEO of RDCP Electrical added:

“This is an important transaction for RDCP Electrical which will underpin our future success. We are committed to taking Links Electrical to the next stage in its growth journey while ensuring we deliver the best possible customer experience. Operations will remain business as usual for all customers and suppliers. We are looking forward to working with the Links Electrical team to strengthen the range of products and branch locations, especially in the renewables sector. They have a dedicated Solar Branch in Oswestry operating from a 6,000sq ft warehouse which will play in integral role in the rapid growth of this area of the business. We are also looking forward to opening new branches in 2025 in Redditch & other areas along the M5 corridor and Wales.”

Darren Lawton, Director of Links Electrical said:

“Working with the team at RDCP Electrical we can now focus on the future. Their partnership and understanding of our business will help us to embrace new opportunities, including our commitment to sustainability and innovation in the renewable energy sector. We’re keen to develop further our existing range which includes complete solar PV and energy storage systems to EV chargers and LED lighting. By bringing in additional products we can provide even greater choice for our customers, helping them to reduce further their energy costs and improve efficiency.”
