Promoting Organic Farming to Future Generations

The multi-award winning Rhug Estate has launched its own charitable trust to promote sustainability.

The 12,500-acre estate near Corwen, North Wales, has diversified to include a farm shop, drive thru retail operation, sustainable meat processing plant and its Rhug Wild Beauty collection.

The estate welcomes tens of thousands of visitors every year and has raised money for many UK and international organisations and campaigns, including the NSPCC, Awyr Las, Hope House Hospice, and humanitarian appeals for Ukraine.

Rhug Charitable Trust is designed to support charities and other organisations, but also to educate visitors on sustainable farming and the importance of maintaining the environment for future generations.

Estate owner Lord Newborough has overseen organic farming on the land since the 1990s, describing it as a ‘hard task’ until the concept became more mainstream.

Business News Wales spoke to Lord Newborough about his aims for the charitable trust and why he views organic farming as so crucial for the future.
