Plans Submitted for 120-Home Development in Bridgend

Bellway Wales has submitted a full planning application to build 120 new homes on land south of the A48 at Craig Y Parcau in Bridgend.

The development would see the demolition of disused and derelict former boys’ home buildings on the site, and the construction of a range of homes.

The homes would comprise 96 three, four and five-bedroom houses for private sale and 24 affordable homes, with a mix of one-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.

Many of the existing trees and the ancient woodland which runs through the 17-acre site would be retained, while new habitats for wildlife would be created. Bat and bird boxes would be integrated into retained trees and new buildings, while hibernacula or log piles would be provided within retained areas of woodland and grassland.

A children’s play area is also planned.

Daniel Shone, Head of Sales for Bellway Wales, said:

“We have carefully designed these proposals for the land at Craig Y Parcau to meet the critical demand for high-quality housing in Bridgend, with a range of home types and sizes to reflect local need.

“The plans incorporate new green spaces for residents, biodiversity enhancements, and sustainable drainage features to promote community wellbeing and long-term environmental sustainability.

“The site benefits from a highly accessible and well-connected location, close to the A48 and within easy reach of Bridgend town centre, and new footpath and cycle links will add to the sustainability of the project.

“Beyond providing new homes for the local area, the project will also have wider benefits by creating jobs during the construction phase and supporting the local economy. We look forward to moving forward with the project subject to planning permission.”

Bellway Wales is building new homes across South Wales, with developments in Newport, Swansea and Cardiff.
