Two burgeoning Denbighshire food and drink producers have showcased their success to the Welsh Government.

Both Owen & Edwards Coffee Roasters and Chilly Cow Ice Cream launched in 2014 and have gone on to establish growing customer bases in North Wales and beyond.

They were visited by the Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths, who toured both companies’ recently expanded premises and heard about their future plans.

Lesley Griffiths, Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs said,

“Wherever I go, in Wales or elsewhere, people are interested in our food and drink.  They recognise we are making great products which are well worth buying and Owen & Edwards Coffee Roasters and Chilly Cow Ice Cream are no exception. I was more than happy to pay both of them a visit and try their superb coffee and ice cream.

“Cywain is doing a great job working with small and medium sized producers such as Owen & Edwards Coffee Roasters and Chilly Cow Ice Cream helping the food and drink sector in Wales establish a global reputation for innovation and quality.”

The two companies have been helped to develop by Cywain – a business-led programme delivered by Menter a Busnes. Cywain is dedicated to developing new and existing micro-businesses and SMEs in the Welsh food and drink sector, focusing on maximising opportunities and growth potential.

“We are delighted to be able to introduce the Minister to two upcoming food and drink producers. They are among a number of enterprising companies who are making a name for themselves, and through their success are having a positive impact on the Welsh economy and enhancing the reputation of the Welsh food and drink sector,” said Dewi Evans, Cywain Project Manager.

“Since Cywain launched ten years ago, it has worked with thousands of producers from start-ups to SMEs – more than 350 in the last 12 months alone – and we are incredibly proud to play a part in these companies’ journeys as they grow.”
