A new specialist commercial consultancy has launched in Cardiff with ambitions to support the growth of the nuclear and wider energy sectors in Wales, while exporting professional services expertise to major projects across the UK and internationally.
WaltersCM is a RICS-regulated chartered surveying practice providing commercial management, advisory and assurance services to organisations delivering complex nuclear, energy and infrastructure projects.
The practice has been established by Chartered Quantity Surveyor Jack Greening, MRICS FCIArb, who has previously led teams responsible for the commercial management of multi-billion-pound portfolios of contracts on major infrastructure projects.
WaltersCM focuses on supporting organisations across the nuclear and energy sectors, with particular expertise in complex commercial arrangements, contract management and NEC contracts.
The launch comes at a significant time for the energy sector in Wales. Welsh businesses and professionals are already contributing to major nuclear programmes across the UK, including Hinkley Point C, where more than 200 Welsh companies have secured contracts, while Sizewell C presents further opportunities for the Welsh supply chain.
Closer to home, work is progressing on the Gwyndod Small Modular Reactor project on Anglesey, alongside other major energy developments across Wales. Together, these projects present opportunities to attract investment, strengthen domestic supply chains and develop Welsh expertise capable of supporting major projects across the UK and internationally.
Jack Greening, Director of WaltersCM, said:
“Wales has a real opportunity to play an important role in the next generation of UK energy infrastructure.
“With its highly capable workforce, Wales is well positioned to benefit from investment across nuclear, renewables and the wider energy supply chain. I wanted to establish WaltersCM in Cardiff and contribute to developing the specialist professional capability needed to support that growth.
“Welsh businesses and professionals are already contributing to some of the UK’s largest and most complex projects, and we should be ambitious about building on that success. Through WaltersCM, I want to help strengthen that capability while taking our expertise to major projects across the UK and internationally.”
The practice has been established to provide senior, specialist commercial expertise and independent assurance, helping organisations identify commercial risks, strengthen contractual governance and improve commercial outcomes throughout project delivery.
Greening added:
“Major projects are becoming increasingly complex, both commercially and in terms of the number of stakeholders involved. Effective commercial management goes beyond administering contracts. It’s about giving leadership teams confidence that risks are understood, contractual obligations are being managed effectively and the commercial information informing decisions is accurate and reliable.
“We’ve built WaltersCM around that principle, with the ambition of becoming a highly regarded specialist professional services business supporting the organisations delivering the UK’s energy infrastructure.”
Since its launch, WaltersCM has secured multi-year framework appointments with several established organisations operating across the sector, providing a foundation for long-term client relationships and the practice’s continued growth.
