Action for Children’s Never Mind the Business raised £37,000 at this year’s night of live music and chaos at Swansea’s historic Brangwyn Hall last month. The night was hosted by Swansea Sound’s Kev Johns with the main sponsors Douglas Jones Mercer and Towergate Insurance

The strictly t-shirts and jeans event gives businesses across Swansea and South Wales the chance to put their pop music knowledge to the test and enjoy live music sets while raising money for disadvantaged children and young people supported by Action for Children.

The quiz was won by Kings of the Stone Age with live music provided by The 1984.

Paul Thorburn, former Welsh rugby international, Douglas Jones Mercer representative and chairman of the Never Mind the Business Swansea committee, said:

‘We had an absolutely brilliant night when the weather was doing its worst. To raise £37,000 was a great effort by everyone and speaks volumes for the generosity of Swansea’s business community.’

Nina Rice, fundraiser for Action for Children in Wales, added:

‘Never Mind the Business Swansea is the perfect way to raise money for the children and young people we proudly serve in Swansea and across the UK. The event is now firmly established in the city has now raised £116,000 since coming to Swansea and we are so grateful people have responded so brilliantly. Roll on next year!’
