Merthyr Care Worker Wins Prestigious Award


A care worker at a Merthyr Tydfil care home has won a prestigious award.

Lisa Hallisey, from Greenhill Manor Care Home on Duffryn Road, was awarded ‘Social Care Nurse’ at the Great British Care Awards Wales on Friday.

The awards seek to recognise the very best in social care, and those individuals who go above and beyond with dedication and commitment to their role, whilst helping to raise the profile of the care sector.

Lisa is a Learning Disability Nurse at Greenhill Manor Care Home and supports individuals with complex health needs. She is also a mentor for many student nurses and is described as bringing ‘kindness and humour’ to her role.

Speaking of her win, Lisa said:

“I was amazed when I found out I was shortlisted and so proud to represent my team who have all worked so hard, especially since the pandemic started.

“I feel as though I have accepted this award on behalf of my team who all do amazing things on a daily basis.”

General Manager at Greenhill Manor Care Home, Mark McCole said:

“I am extremely proud of the whole team at Greenhill Manor for the exceptional care provided.

“The dedication and commitment is inspirational. Lisa consistently delivers outstanding relationship centred care. Lisa was delighted to accept this award on behalf of the residents and whole team at Greenhill Manor.”

Following her win, Lisa will attend the national final which will take place on 18th March
